VELA Design Consultations are available in-person or online, bringing the same personalised, guided experience to clients anywhere in Queensland, including regional and rural areas.
Our space is designed like a real home, and allows clients and clinicians to see the chairs in realistic, functional settings and see how the chair supports independence in activities in everyday life.
From kitchens and workspaces to hobby and activity areas, our space enables meaningful, functional discussion about how a VELA Activity Chair will be used in daily life.

Led by our founder Amy Vincent, an Occupational Therapist with more than 20 years of clinical experience, our female-founded, family business combines deep expertise with a personalised approach.

I don't know if a VELA Activity Chair is right for me
We recommend speaking with your treating Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist first, as they understand your functional needs and daily activities. You can then get in touch to request a VELA Design Consultation with us, and we will guide you and your clinician through the process.
My clinician and I haven't seen a VELA Chair before. Is this process for us?
Yes. Our VELA Design Consultations are designed to guide both clients and clinicians through the process, even if neither has experience with a VELA Activity Chair.
We provide a live demonstration of the chair, step by step explanation of features, guidance on configuration and access to our VELA Clinical Resource Hub.
We ensure both clients and their treating clinicians have the knowledge and confidence needed to prescribe the VELA Activity Chair.
Can i have a trial at home?
VELA Activity Chairs are highly customisable and require clinical prescription and configuration.
Rather than using a generic trial chair (which may not reflect the final customised prescription), we provide a guided VELA Design Consultation as the trial pathway. This is an interactive, clinician-supported process that includes live demonstration, functional discussion, and step-by-step configuration of the chair based on the client’s goals, measurements, and daily activities.
Consultations can be completed in-person at our purpose-designed showroom, created to replicate real-life home environments such as kitchens, workspaces, and daily activity areas, or online with the treating clinician present in the client’s home environment. This allows for a meaningful and functionally relevant assessment of how the chair will be used in everyday life.
Who should attend the consultation?
We always recommend that both the client and their treating clinician attend together. If the consultation is online, it's best that they are together in the client's home or environment where the chair will be used. The treating clinician, usually an Occupational Therapist (sometimes a Physiotherapist), ensures the chair is clinically suitable, correctly prescribed, and configured to meet the the client’s needs.
How much does a VELA Design Consultation cost?
Our VELA Design Consultations are complimentary and available throughout Queensland, including regional and remote areas.
Can a chair be approved or funded without a home trial?
Yes. Funding decisions (including through NDIS and other funding bodies) are based on clinical evidence, functional need, and expert prescription, not solely on a home trial.
Our guided VELA Design Consultations provide clinicians with all the information, measurements, and recommendations needed for funding applications. This process is proven and regularly used across Queensland, with clients in both metro and regional areas successfully having their chairs approved through this pathway.
